DJ Gabrielle Bodzin, distant cousin to the infamous Stephen Bodzin, mixes sets inspired by her roots in Miami. Originally a pianist and trumpet player, she fell in love with music through her parents house parties where Motown and disco were playing all night, as well as classical piano and folk guitar through her dad's multi-instrumentalist gifts. Her older brother was the first DJ she knew. After attending her first Winter Music Conference in Miami at the ripe age of 13, she fell in love with house music, specifically at the intersection of organic instrumentals with deep beats. While she keeps her finger on the pulse with emerging artists and new sounds, she is ultimately inspired by the origins of this genre through the sounds of Chicago and Detroit House. Keeping a room grooving is important, but creating a space for people to transform, become, and process even more primary. She believes rhythm, melody and bass run in our blood and bones; and that a good set is not only there to hold down the vibe and create peak experiences with loved ones, but to remind us of our inherent interconnectedness to universal consciousness, and to piece ourselves back together through bliss and trance states. Deep house, melodic house, progressive house, organic house, folk-inspired house, and afro-house are among some of her current favorite genres. Her spiritual journey has led her to embrace movement as a form of radical ecstasy and healing, where she discovered her passion for ecstatic or sober, intentional dance experiences. Book her to play on a floor cushion for your cozy intimate party, an ecstatic dance, massive rager, or for the festival you're producing. For booking inquires; contact: gabriellebodzin@gmail.com.
